The Poet

(Cert: G) by Denis J. Mahon Published on: 16. February 2008
I
Lonliness fills my waking hour,
My dreams, my life, my mind it devours,
Though it’s solitude I did desire,
Never did I imagine of it, I would tire.More...

Silent Tear

(Cert: G)
It doesn't get more dark than this. Depressive stuff for those who crave it.
by Denis J. Mahon Published on: 15. February 2004
So here I sit, so full of pride,
For what I am, I cannot hide,
So tall and proud, I am, I can,
For without a doubt, I am the man.
Few my betters, none my best,
None I reckon, above my test.

So why do I feel so all alone,
Eternal solitude all I’ve known,
Deeper I get within my mind,
In my pen, my sorrow is all I find.

Oh bask do I in mine own joy,
To myself why would I lie,
Great things I’ve done, seen and said,
For the many I have led,
Through stormy skies and blackened nights,
In mine eye I am the light.

Yet pen in hand, here I sit,
All alone I do not fit,
The written word my one true friend,
A Silent Tear, that will not end.

Cry

(Cert: G) by Denis J. Mahon Published on: 10. February 2004
Cry, no more tears in my eye,
Smile, no more in life for I.

Cry, there’s no more to give,
Smile, why should I live.

Cry, I’ve been through it all,
Smile, I’ve made my stall.

Cry, it’s been so long,
Smile, my love has gone.

Cry, till the day I die,
Smile, our last good-bye.

Cry, no soul to save,
Smile, my empty grave.

The Watchers on the Hill

(Cert: G) by Denis J. Mahon Published on: 5. January 2004
Great crowds gathered on the hills,
Ships aready duty clear,
To start afresh to begin anew,
Upon this quest the Nine shall go.

One for the People, for all they stand,
Two for the Land, they hold so dear,
Three for the Duty, they’ll never forget,
Four for Hope, never to be lost,
Five for Love, a spark for the flame,
Six for Humility, remembrance of all,
Seven for Honour, above life,
Eight for Freedom, never to be chained,
Nine for the Future, and all that it holds.

This promise we make, never shall we break,
Upon this we swear our lives we lay bare.
For all we hold dear our duty is clear,
Nine to the fold this promise to hold.

Beneath the waves are rolling,
Surf comes onto land,
One thousand eyes awatching,
For the Nine returning home,
We are the The Watchers on the Hill.

Above the skies are churning,
Dark clouds come to roost,
Awatching we will continue,
Steadfast and be true,
We are The Watchers on the Hill.

From setting of the Sun,
To the waning of the Moon,
Duty bound will we stand,
Our life will we give,
We are The Watchers on the Hill.
Although weary we may grow,
Our duty still remains,
Though the Nine have departed,
Home they will return,
We are The Watchers on the Hill.

Yes we are The Watchers on the Hill,
Our faith we will always keep,
For the Nine who have departed,
In our hearts they will always be.
We are The Watchers on the Hill.
